Good Times For Young’s Blog

Let me tell you this has been a great time for Young’s Blog.  I just got a huge promotion on TV on ABC 33/40.  And a great promotion from Word Camp Birmingham.  And it will certainly will not be the last either.  I would like to thank the people at Focus @ 4 and Pam Huff for the story.  And for Marissa Mitchell for driving all the way out here to Anniston to shoot the story.  I had to help her give directions to where I live.  The story is about getting healthier and about Shape Up!  Just click on the top on the page to learn more about what I am doing.  And here is the story below.

Now there is one very big event going on in the Atlanta metro on March 3rd.  It is called Run For Your Lives and it is a 5K race with 12 obstacles and the whole race is filled with zombies!  The people dressed like zombies have to grab the runners flags.  It looks like me and several other people are going.  This really looks like a fun event.  And I am going to sign up.  With the other folks joining soon as well.  The e-mail to join the Geek Dad group is going out as well.

So at the end the outlook for this blog is great.  I am thinking about new segments for Young’s Blog including maybe a weekday segment.  And the promotions on TV, radio, and other blogs is going to keep on coming as well.  I really like to thank all of you for logging on to Young’s Blog and I am going to continue to make Young’s Blog: Unofficial Ambassador for NE Alabama.

      • I am glad you are eating better, we all need to do that, myself included. I have been trying. Any luck with a job? I sure hope so. I will keep my fingers crossed!

      • No luck on the job front yet. The area I live in is about to go through a major job crisis as around 600 jobs are going to be cut by the end of March. As for eating better; I do get some healthy stuff but you know with the limited income it is tough. It is nice outside today so I am going to walk down to the career center to see if anything is new this week.

      • I’m sorry you are having so much trouble finding a job. :( That is not good at all! I will keep the prayers going for you.

It is hard to eat healthy. I know. I make 9.50 an hour and struggle to eat the way I should. Do you have the Kindle app for the pc? You should download it. I don’t know if it is still free, but there was a kindle e-book from Weight Watchers, I downloaded it. Like I said, it was free, might not be now. There were quite a few recipe books that were free, for eating better. Maybe that might help. Some pretty good recipes in there.

I need to lose about 50 pounds. Find it hard as I wasn’t overweight while growing up. It is the “age” thing and now I have health issues, which aren’t helping. I buy, once a week, enough things to make one huge salad in a bowl. I eat salad every day. If I want to add something to the salad, to keep it from being totally boring I do to each serving.

I want to ask something but am afraid it will be too pushy or nosey. Being overweight by 50 pounds makes my throat shut while sleeping, the extra weight. I now use a CPAP machine which helps me sleep. A bit more energy as I am not waking up 85 times a night as I use to. Can you see about that??? It might help. No doctor but you never know. Feel free to tell me to mind my own beeswax. I will understand.

  1. The Kindle for PC app is free, sorry, thought I might be kinda vague. It was the Weight Watchers recipes that might not be free any more. There are loads of free kindle books on Amazon. Barnes and Nobles also has an app for the pc, free, and loads of free books. Probably all kinds of recipe books on both free too. There are always free ebooks on Amazon. I know, I download almost daily! :)

    • Thanks for the tips. The last few events I have gone too everyone had a smartphone except for me. So my first thing to do after finding work is to get a smartphone that has tons of apps for healthy eating.
